Hi, I’m having a problem of screen getting grey out after having a screenshot.

It happens at the first time when I click the screenshot key (the screenshot was not successful but the area without selected bacame grey) and if I click on the screenshot key the second times, it was successful but the grey area remains. I can’t make it disappear by force quit but can solve it by restarting the macbook (cuz the background can still function) But everytime when I screenshot something it keeps happening... Can anyone helps??

Hello chermine25 and welcome to Apple Support Communities. It appears you are having some difficulty with screenshots under macOS Big Sur.

As screenshots are a root function of macOS, you'll want to start by isolating what exactly is causing the behavior. There are a couple of standard steps that can help with that.

1) Start by doing a safe boot of the Mac. This will clear some cache files, turn off some system extensions and log-in items and give you a good foundation. After doing the safe boot, reboot normally and test.

2) If the issue persists after a safe boot, set up a new admin user account and boot into that for testing. Doing so helps you to isolate the issue to the system or the user data and ultimately resolve it.

You can find the steps to add a user here:

Cheers.
