iPhone 12 full screen apps

I have recently changed from a XR to a 12 which I am very happy with. However I have noticed some apps (LinkedIn, Ring doorbell etc) don't display in full screen, there is a black border on the top and bottom of the display. But some other apps (Facebook) display in fullscreen.

My XR always displayed all apps in fullscreen so I wonder if i have done something wrong setting the phone up.

Any help would be appreciated

Likewise I’ve just stepped up from the 6+ to the 12 expecting a similar screen size experience (hence not going to the 12 mini) and disappointed to actually have a smaller screen view for live video streaming than the 6+.

Appreciate it’s a compatibility thing but the 5 year old technology provides a better user experience in my view.
