My Scansnap ix500 is not working with macOS High Sierra 10.13.4. How do I make it work?

Thank you. I did run into a problem updating firmware and it would not recognize my scansnap ix500. I tried unplugging device and it just did not recognize it. I opted out of the firmware update and scanner worked.
