iPhone purchase at Apple store Infinite Loop Cupertino?

1.    In October / November, when iPhone 12 was launched, AT&T had offer to trade-in your old iPhone and get $800 credit towards your new iPhone 12 pro or pro max if you’re a new customer and sign up for unlimited plan

2.    After reading this, I took my iPhone X to Apple store at 1 infinite loop in Cupertino California. My service provider at the time was Verizon. This was on 14-November-2020

3.    Once in the store, I asked about this offer and that I want to purchase iPhone 12 pro max, trade-in my iPhone X and switch my service provider to AT&T to avail this offer.

4.    The person in the store informed me that he can do all this in the Apple store including switching from Verizon to AT&T and the credit for $800 would show up in my AT&T bill after 3-4 billing cycle(s)

5.    He also asked me if I’m solely moving from Verizon to AT&T to avail this offer that I answered as YES

6.    I went ahead and gave him my iPhone X that was like new and in the box with charger

7.    I also signed up for AT&T unlimited plan that was a requirement to get the $800 off

8.    I paid the sales tax at Apple store for the new iPhone of about $98.91 on the same day

9.    The person at Apple store switched my number from Verizon to AT&T

10. After waiting for 3 months when the credit didn’t show up in my AT&T bill, I tried contacting Apple online support and calling them. I was told that this can only be resolved at the store. The stores were closed for months due to COVID

11. In my AT&T bill, my iPhone installments have a charge of $36.64 for 30 installments that will total to about $1099.20, full price of iPhone 12 Pro Max

12. I went to Apple store at 1 infinite loop on 6-February-2021 to explain this and was told that they cannot do anything and that my old iPhone X is gone

Is there any corporate email address for Apple?

You apparently don't use the internet or forums much. You clearly didn't read the terms of use before you joined here. This is a user-to-user technical support site operated by Apple. There is no Apple management here. No one here can fix your problem. But if you are doing a trade-in through Apple they handle this with a 3rd party company so if your trade-in is rejected it is by whatever company contacted you. If you are on a Verizon upgrade program then the rejection and subsequent contact would be through Verizon. I would suggest someone to contact but your posts really are not clear as to who your issue is with? Who sent the emails regarding the fake issues and what did they claim?

And since the OP bought at a physical Apple Store and is with AT&T there issue is different from yours. You would do better to post your own new thread and fill in some blanks with more detail. Or do like I suggested to the OP, who hasn't been back, and call Apple directly.

I just posted my frustrating experience trading in my iPhone X for an additional credit with Verizon. The phone has been rejected twice for fake issues (the most recent being that it's still on my apple id, and I had their techs confirm it ISN'T). I was literally told that I need to wait for it to come back to me, re-register it, then re-delete it, then request a 3rd attempt at trade-in. I'm pretty close to giving up on the $450 credit I'm supposed to get, and I'm increasingly convinced that's the whole point on their side.

I actually initiated my purchase/trade-in through the apple store app, but otherwise yes. I performed every step in the apple support link you posted and used their mail-in kit (which I understand may go to a 3rd party... but all the communication I receive and can interact with is Apple, there is no way for me to contact anyone else, or even see who that 3rd party may be).

I just realized that I responded to your reply accidentally rather than OP. Apologies. But yes, the process is managed by Apple. I've had no contact with Verizon and they aren't a part of processing the trade-in as far as I can tell.

Not sure why you're adding quotation marks to the word fake unless it's to directly quote me. I can use the word "disingenuous," "incorrect," or "untrue" if you'd like. The fact remains that the first reason they sent it back was not true (no scratches, dings, dents, scuffs, etc. and in perfect operating order); the second reason being untrue as well seeing that the phone was reset and removed from my account before they received it. Those are facts, and the only gray area is Apple's motive or the motivation of any 3rd party to reject my trade-in. I don't believe bad faith is necessary for the reason itself to be fake, but the fact that the phone has been rejected twice for demonstrably false reasons has me wondering why.

Why would you be responding to the OP? Do you think they will be able to fix this?

Are you upgrading your iPhone via just Apple and/or using the Apple Upgrade Program or are you upgrading through Verizon? Either way Apple has nothing to do with it, if you are trading in to Apple they use a 3rd party company to handle trade ins. What exactly were these fake reasons they came up with?

Hold up, what you're saying is that if I'm having a similar experience as the OP, that I can't connect with them? You don't have to respond to my reply and it wasn't meant for you. I would argue that you're hijacking the post by responding to me with what you clearly thought was cleverly leading questions. Verizon has f*** all to do with my issue, and the common thread whether it be a brick and mortar or online service issue is Apple (which is why I'm in an APPLE forum). Thanks anyway for your "help"

Because I want to know when/if they get their issue resolved. Dood, why are you policing my posts? The issues Apple has given me thus far was that the phone was not in an acceptable condition (see above), and now that it needs to be reset and removed from "Find My." As I said, both of those have been done and they confirmed the latter over the phone. If you have any useful suggestions and don't want to hijack this person's post, please search for mine and respond there. I merely wanted to reach out to THIS person and share a similar experience in hopes that they somehow get theirs resolved in a way that might be helpful to me (but I don't think getting granular on the specifics of the fake reasons has overlap with the OP).

I have spent 3hrs on the phone with Apple, and I'm hoping this person comes back with a solution they found. I am not looking for help from Apple here. Please read my responses more carefully as I specifically said that I don't know who the 3rd party is (if anyone) as I'm using Apple's trade-in program and only they have contacted me. I appreciate your time and advice, but not your insults. Maybe try starting with kindness next time. I don't understand why you're trying to help people on a forum if you're so annoyed/angered by it.

This person hasn't responded since I suggested they call Apple. I doubt they will have any magic secret to resolve your issue. If you were on the phone with Apple for 3 hours and could not resolve the issue I'm not sure what anybody else could suggest that would help you. What was Apple's decision at the end of that phone call?

Feb 10, 2021 3:06 PM in response to deggie

I'm at my wit's end, so I came here for a hail mary (like this person returning with an idea). You don't know what you don't know, right? I might just keep the phone as a backup when I receive it back this time. The last tech person I spoke with at Apple suggested I wait for it to be rejected again (however long that will take without me being able to resolve their request to remove it from Find My), then re-register the device on my apple id, then reset it again and re-remove it from my apple id, then send it back in. The post order department people told me there's nothing they can do to push through this Find My issue or expedite another trade-in request (even though that's exactly what they did last time I had to resend it to them). Can you see how I'm at my wit's end and hoping someone sees this here with some magic response? Eating over $400 that I wasn't expecting isn't something I love, but if I could go back in time, I'd trade it for this experience.

So are you in possession of the trade in or does the trade in site have it? If you have it I would do what Apple suggested then follow all the steps (again, I know) in the link I provided. Prior to sending it back take pictures of the iPhone from all angles, take a video of the phone working and in your case take a video of the iCloud screen showing that you have turned off Find My. Then put it in the box and send it back in. Save all those pictures and videos and make sure you have time stamp on.

If you don't want to go through all that again, sell it yourself for more money and then send the money to Apple. I sold mine for $750

Feb 10, 2021 3:36 PM in response to deggie

Apple (or 3rd party) have the phone; they sent me an email requesting that I remove it from Find My before they can finish processing it... but, as you know, I can't because I already wiped it and removed it from my account. So, I'm just waiting for them to reject it again and mail it back to me (which is when Apple suggests I go through the whole process of re-registering it before initiating a new trade-in request). Maybe I'll just sell it when it comes back. Ironically, I opted to trade it in first because it's so much easier. Was it an X that you sold for $750?
