I used to be able to click on first song on a playlist I have created and the next song would play automatically. Have read lots of posts and tried different things, but nothing working! This problem began when I upgraded my Mac to Big Sur.
The usual reason for this behaviour is that all the songs in the list are unchecked. Use Cmd+A to select all, then right-click and use the Check Selection option from the context menu.

THIS WORKED! Thank you SO much. Explanation was very clear. I had tried so many other things. Now I can hear my son playing all his music. (He is a jazz musician.)
