Logging onto iCloud account on MacBook Pro

I recently changed my Apple ID password, and cannot log into my iCloud account on my MacBook Pro. I have managed to log onto iCloud account on my other devices (iPhone, iPad, and Desktop Mac) but cannot sign in on MacBook Pro.....it accepts the Apple ID and password, but doesn't log in! Any suggestions gratefully received!

Hello GrahamS1958,

Thank you for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. We understand you're unable to log in with an updated Apple ID password for iCloud on your Mac. We'll be happy to help.

Just to be sure, were you able to follow the suggested steps outlined in this helpful article: What to do after you change your Apple ID or password

If so, and these steps do not help, we recommend to restart your Mac in safe mode. This helps to perform a basic check of your startup disk, deletes some system caches and more. Here's an article with more information and the proper steps to take: How to use safe mode on your Mac Once you're in safe mode, please restart your Mac as normal and see if you can sign in with your Apple ID account without any issues.

We look forward to hearing back from you with an update.

Kind regards.

GrahamS1958,

Thanks for getting back to us and for verifying that information. There are additional steps available to help isolate this behavior further. We suggest to review the suggested steps outlined here: If you can't connect or sign in to iCloud

If that doesn't help and you continue to experience the same behavior, we recommend to contact Apple Support to review this further. You can contact them through link: Get Support

Best regards.

Thank you for your response. I did what you suggested.....started in safe mode, and then reloaded OS Big Sur, however when I try and log in to my Apple ID through the System Preference page, I have the same issue, ie: it allows me to enter my Apple ID, and password it then thinks about it for a few moments, and the asks for my Apple ID again. It does not progress to login. My touch id no seems to work or my autofill on Chrome etc, I seem to have no ICloud either
