Having to sign in

Whenever I’m in Browse here in Communities and attempt to reply to a question or read other’s replies, I have to sign in again. When I exit a post and return to Browse or Subscriptions I’m still signed in. I’m signing in constantly but not having to sign out. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

We are all other users and have no access to the "inner workings" of the software and coding used in these forums. There are also recurring glitches all the time - do not assume that this runs the way it should all the time. I just shrug and do what the screen tells me to do. I do not ever sign out purposely - it does that for me all by itself. Just get used to the "quirks"......

I’m humbling myself here. I believe this is a technical support question....I may not have explained my concern clearly the first time then have to admit I got a bit caught up in the moment and a separate issue. It’s also possible my thick skull is not getting your response. I also may be irritated by something that’s completely unimportant. Maybe it’s my browser, maybe it’s me ( yes, I could be this much of an inexperienced browser)? What I was trying to describe is I’ll sign in to the site, choose My Subscription s, view a question, sign in to see it, view it, sign out ( as of last night, I just close the tab!) move on to the next post, go through the same process, I probably won’t ever be a frequent poster, so is this the process it will remain? Having to use my thumbprint every question? Okay, you made it clear you don’t know and to reference Allan’s reply. It’s always this way. It’s not new. Please ignore if annoyed.

From a technical support stand point I just wanted to mention that I really learned a lot from your lengthy answer opposed to a brief explanation that as an experienced forum participant you feel entirely comfortable with letting the forum time you out. Which is what happens when you do not sign out. I have a terrible habit of crossing my t’s and dotting my i’s. It would not have served the question to leave it at that. So, thank you.

You aim to inform, not to please, correct? I am perfectly aware of how Apple Support works and it’s functionality. I have not mistaken this forum for Apple Support. . As you may notice my question was identified appropriately as a using communities inquiry. Now I need an explanation of how my question didn’t meet that criteria for future posts If I’m not misunderstanding you that seems to be the implication and I want to make sure I’m making appropriate posts and asking the right questions because I know Apple Support would not want to answer a using communities question. Please post links if you’d like. I just carefully reread forum information. I really appreciate your effort to inform regarding your role and capabilities. I have a much better grasp and will add it to my box of tools for the future.

Thank you, that’s appreciated. So was your time in answering my initial question. The below was confusing to me. I wasn’t inquiring about my device specifically nor did I believe that a communities question needed to be. Also, I have no idea where the Apple Support reference came from. I did find that confusing.

I appreciate that your role here is the same as anyone else’s; to help provide technical support. That was my comment regarding “here to inform “. Thank you for the good wishes. I believe I may need them.

off I go....into the night, bravely, without signing out. Here’s to an auto-sign-out!

Yes, annoying post and a thick skull. I can’t seem to avoid the thumbprint requirement no matter what. I have made a few comments hoping that my impact it. So far no luck. I believe I may skip it.
