Enlarging or shrinking the content on the screen of an iPad

How do i shrink or enlarge the content on the screen of an iPad? I can do this on a pc by holding the control key down and scrolling either up or down with the mouse. Is there something equivalent on and iPad?

That would be the two-finger “pinch” (zoom out) or “expand” (zoom in) gestures...
