Screen Mirroring

Trying to use screen mirroring from pad pro to sony tv on same wi-fi network. Following apple instructions, I went to Command Center, but Screen Mirroring is not an option (not grayed out, just not there). How can I get screen mirroring working between these 2 devices?

iPad Pro, iPadOS 14

Your looking in the wrong spot.

Go the iPad's Home screen and invoke the Control Panel dropdown there by swiping a finger downward from the upper top right corner of the iPad's screen to bring down the iPadOS Control Panel.

The Screen Mirroring icon should already be there.

Some control panel features are in the Control Panel dropdown menu by iOS/iPadOS UI default and do not appear in the Control Panel list in the Settings app.

It should be one of the default options in the Control Centre swipe down panel.

It actually says “Screen Mirroring”.

Try the new hard reset procedure for the 2018/2020 iPad Pro/iPad Air 4 models without a Home button.

1. Press and release the volume UP button.

2. Then immediately press and release the volume DOWN button.

3. Then, press and hold the Power button at the top. You will see the Slide to Power off button, but keep on holding down the Power button until you see the Apple logo, then let it go.

Once you have performed all the steps, wait for a few seconds and your iPad Pro will boot up completely to the iPad Pro’s Lock screen.

Good Luck!

Those are NOT widgets, They are icons of different things/functions you can control within iOS/iPadOS.

Hence the name Control Panel.

That dropdown IS THE MAIN Control Panel access.

That is where you need to be working from

From turning ON/OFF WiFi, cellular data, Airplane mode, screen rotation lock, etc..

The version of this in the Settings app is where you can add/delete other Control Panel iOS functions.

What brand of device/TV are you trying to mirror to and why is the reason you ate trying to mirror your iPad to this device?

Your Sony Bravia probably uses Apple's AirPlay 2 screen mirroring protocol.

All fairly new iPads use AirPlay 2, as well.

Are you trying you trying to AirPlay a certain app or apps?

You cannot AirPlay more than one device at a time. to another AirPlay capable device.

To AirPlay to your Sony Bravia, you need to have no other device using AirPlay on your TV

To use AirPlay on your TV to just mirror your iPad, you tap the Screen Mirroring option in the iOS swipe down Control Panel.

When you do this your AirPlay capable TV should pop-up an AirPlay code on the TV screen.

On the iPad, there should be a code box that appears where you type in the code shown on the TV to activate Airplay mirroring between your TV and your iPad.

NOW, if you are trying the AirPlay an app, this ability is ONLY available on a per app basis as the developer of the app can or cannot allow AirPlay mirroring of their app.

It is the same procedures for AirPlay-ing within an app.

A code will pop-up on the TV, you enter the code in a code box on the iPad.

You may find with many streaming video types of apps that some will allow AirPlay mirroring and some will not.

Best of Luck to You!

I see. Even though the directions say to go to Control Center, I should be finding something else called Control Panel. Swiping down from the right on my home screen does not give me a Control Panel option. It displays widgets. One widget does say Screen Mirroring, but when I choose it the throbber spins incessantly without ever connecting to anything. I am near the device I want mirror to and, as I say, both are connected to wi-fi on the same network.

On my phone they call the home page controls to volume etc, widgets, so sorry I hope I didn't derail the whole conversation.

In any case, it's definitely my ipad and not the device I'm trying to mirror to. When I look at my Control Panel the screen mirroring whatever-it-should-be-called does not have the 2 white square linedrawings depicting 2 screens. My husband's ipad does. His can connect to the tv (sony bravio) that mine cannot. Sigh. So, the question is...is there something I need to activate so that screen mirroring will work?
