Why Do Messages go to an email when I send them to a phone number

When I create a group that includes an Andriod phone number. I choose the Apple user's phone number but it ends up reverting to the person's email address after I send. It sends as SMS because of the Andriod user's inclusion. I have deleted all prior text threads and the Apple user has checked his settings. This is a recent issue. it happens no matter if I start the message from iphone, laptop, or ipad

This was helpful. It was not on the end of the recipient (others were able to send a mixed group text successfully). it was on my end. There was something hung up in my contact. I deleted it, sent a group txt using the phone number, reentered a new contact. Problem solved.

A bit more detail....

The texts to the person would start out as going to their phone (I chose the phone number, not email address), but then would transpose to email after I tapped Send. It's a recent problem. The recipient's settings are just fine (we checked). Deleting the contacting and sending to the phone number (entering it manually), then creating a new Contact fixed the issue. Others who text the person were not having this issue, even if I was included in the text group. It only happened when I created the group text.

Yes, the recipient received/viewed the text in email.

Hi ltnunes,

Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help today. It sounds like you in include an Android user in a Group Message and an iPhone user in the same Group Message gets the message sent to his email instead of phone number.

Did you mean he actually sees it in his email app?

Is this only happening with one iPhone user? If so, the issue sounds like it is with their iPhone. If they go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive is their number and email check marked under "YOU CAN RECEIVE MESSAGES TO AND REPLY FROM"?

You can also test to see if the issue is with their iPhone by removing their email in Contacts and attempting to send an iMessage to their number.

Have a fantastic day!
