To upgrade to High Sierra from Lion, you need to upgrade to Sierra first.

Hi there,
The latest macOS version for your Mac is macOS High Sierra.
Cheers,
Jack
How do I find out how to do that? Whenever I try an update it won’t work
The maximum version of macOS a 2011 iMac can run is 10.13.6 High Sierra. If you are at that version then that’s as far as you can go.
So which version of macOS are you running right now?
MAC OS X Lion 10.7.5
I downloaded macOS Sierra 10.12 and then when I click on install it goes through the motions but nothing happens.
Are you still downloading, or installing? The download from the Apple website I linked may take up to 1 hour.
