Using Apple Pencil in (1st generation) with Note on iPad 8th generation WON'T COPY/PASTE

I'm using Apple Pencil First Generation and an 8th Generation iPad. The app I am using is Notes.

When you have written something in Notes you can select it using the selection tool (using the pencil) and you get a menu that includes "Copy" an "Duplicate" as options.

If you select "Duplicate" it does what it says and you may drag the duplicated region to wherever you want. This works,

However, If you select "Copy", you used to be able to go to another area, press the pencil in the desired spot and a menu that includes "Paste" would appear, so you could paste the previously selected area to the desired placed, Now it doesn't work. Instead, when you tap on the desired area, you get a keyboard, and if you dismiss it, you go back to pencil instead of staying on the selection too.

I had a 6th Generation iPad and and first generation pencil before and it worked fine; this behavior is very annoying.

What could the fix be?

iPad (6th gen) WiFi

HI Gugumatz,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you're having an issue with the copy and paste feature using your Apple Pencil in Notes. We're happy to help.

It sounds like you've completed some great testing thus far. Does the issue occur with any other apps? If not, we'd recommend starting with the steps here: Close an app on your iPhone or iPod touch

If the issue remains, test a normal restart of your iPad: Restart your iPad and test the issue. If you find this occurs in multiple apps or you're still unable to paste as expected, Contact Apple Support.

Best!
