All my contacts in iCloud have been duplicated somehow. Is there a best way to remove the dupes?

This reply was very helpful, thanks. It did remove the duplicate cards, all that's left is that the groups are duplicated as well, each paid of groups containing the same cards. So it's easy to just delete the duplicate groups manually.

Groups can't be merged , they have to be manually deleted , duplicate contacts might be in different groups , accumulate duplicate contacts ( just drag and drop them ) in any single group and right click on the group and delete it .
