What if I cannot unlock my old Mac to erase the data

I cannot get into my old Mac to erase the data before trade in. Will it be erased once it is received at the trade in location?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 10.12

Thanks. The problem is I cannot get into the machine to do all those things.

does it get wiped when it arrives at the trade in location?

It should be - but but . . . All the personal Data is there.
