I've had this same problem with the MBA M1 and the MagicKeyboard I have found a temporary fix, but it does seem to come back to haunt you.

You will loose Bluetooth connectivity, so have a USB mouse handy.

  1. Hold Option + Shift and click on the Bluetooth icon on the menu bar.
  2. Click Factory reset all bluetooth devices
  3. Option + Shift and click on the Bluetooth icon on the menu bar again
  4. Reset the Bluetooth module
  5. Reconnect the Keyboard via bluetooth and it should be working again.

I have noticed that it does re-occur after a while and only long term solution for me is to plug the keyboard in via USB.
