iCloud folders missing in Safari "file upload" dialog sidebar since Safari 14.0.3

Open Finder, enable sidebar.

iCloud items are visible in the sidebar.

vs.

MacOS 10.14.6 (Mojave) updates to 10th Feb 2021 applied.

Safari 14.0.3

Open Safari, navigate to web page that allows file upload. Click on the 'file upload' button.

iCloud items are NOT visible in the finder style window in the sidebar.

They are visible in the Finder sidebar.

If I search for a file name I know to be in iCloud I can add this file.

This is inconvenient, how to enable the folders so they show up.

This seems to be a problem since release of Safari 14.0.3 (which fixed a bug preventing the 'add file' dialog from even showing, could this be related?)

Restarting does not fix the issue

Did you even solver this? It not then a work around is to open finder and click and drag the folders you need on the side bar for the normal area into the favourites section. After that they will appear in the favourites section when you try to upload in Safari.

Hello adolfgarlic,

It sounds like when you try to access your iCloud folder from a web browser, you are not able to see these files.

Here are some resources that might help:

  • If you are not using it, is it the case that you don't see the folder at all in the sidebar, Get to know the Finder on your Mac? If so, is the iCloud folder hidden, Customize the Finder toolbars on Mac? If you see iCloud in gray in the sidebar, hover you mouse over it and click the arrow. If you do not see iCloud in gray on the sidebar, Change what’s in the sidebar under Finder > Preferences, click sidebar.

  • Is it the case that you see the folder but when accessing it you are unable to see the files? If so, see if there are too may files in this folder. Create another folder in your main folder and transfer all files but one in this folder. With just the one file and everything else in a folder, try to access the files again from Safari.

Hope this information helps.

Have a good day.

This reply above was not helpful at all. It's like the person replying had not read the original question and certainly did not understand the issue. I am having the same issue and it is annoying. I upload files to a web site nearly every day and this suddenly not working is beyond frustrating. I've wasted an evening trying to figure this out.

The iCloud Drive is these and shows up as normal in the sidebar on finder... It is just missing on safari when I try to upload. Yes as a workaround I can save the file in finder to my desktop then upload it from there but that is a pathetic workaround.

If anyone has the actual solution please shout out!
