I have this error message too. I have tried signing out/signing in, and tried signing out, then attempting to download app in App Store, as recommended in this thread. The error persists. I have an old iPad4 with IOS 10.3.3. I'm trying to download Libby, with OverDrive. Thanks for any help!

I'm having this problem on my MacBook Pro. (Still on El Capitan.) It keeps telling me I have updates, but then it won't let me update them.

First I get:

The iTunes Store is unable to process purchases at this time.

Please try again later.

I click OK and this pops up:

We could not complete your request.

There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later.

Later never comes. I tried making the updates through Purchases, but that makes no difference. I've signed out, signed in, restarted, updated payment options and verified everything verifiable. This has been going on for days. Super annoying.

Sharing that on my old 5S, which has 11, my ipad mini 1, which has 9, and my yosemite laptop, I am once again able to update apps and download new apps. That means they fixed something. Hope it lasts.

Nevermind, I found the answer on another thread. This is definitely a bug for Apple to address. If I search, find the app and install, I get the error.

If I go to the "Purchased" tab on the App Store and find the app on that list, it installs with no problem.

Please fix this! In the meantime, I'll use the workaround.

I have tried all the suggestions and none have worked. The main app I am trying to update is a game so I do t want to delete and start again

In my case, the app that won't update is something I can't delete: Find My iPhone on my iPad 9.3.5. Same error, still unresolved. I'll continue reading the entire thread.

This approach worked for me on 9.3.5. Agree that it is a tedious and unacceptable work around. It would be far more helpful if the problem was fixed by Apple.

My problem has nothing to do with the App Store. Mine is to do with updating books from the books app

I agree with everything you said about Apple. I stayed on the phone for like 3 or 4 hours trying to fix the problem and I still have the problem.

I'm having the same issue, please keep us posted.

Apple hasn't helped. They sent me a document to help, unfortunately it wasn't about the issue I am having.
