What does Launchpad do that Dock doesn't?
In my experience use of either Launchpad, or the Dock depends upon user preferences.

Well, you can add other things than apps to the Dock (folders, documents, drives). And, it's always at the bottom of your screen. It doesn't need to be launched.
Launchpad has all of your apps and a nice search box.
It's really user preference. My dock has more than 60 aliases for a one click quick launch of the app or file.
Holds many more application icons.
Man, babowa... I thought my dock was busy! Yours makes mine look simple. 😂
Obviously I've got the size reduced, but they are all grouped in categories so I can almost hit it blind and I've got it at almost full magnification when you move the cursor over it.
