Can't download apps on my early 2015 MacBook Air

When I go to download an app it says -


"We could not complete your purchase.

(null) can't be installed on "OS X Base System" because macOS version 10.14 or later is required."


how can I fix this? My current version is 10.13.6

MacBook Air 11″, macOS 10.13

If an app requires macOS 10.14, then it can't be installed on a Mac with macOS 10.13.6.


You will need to upgrade to macOS 10.14. Go to System Preferences>Software Update. Does it offer the 10.14 upgrade?
