Big Sur - iMac (27-inch, Late 2013)

Shalom.

I am disappointed that the above iMac does not run Big Sur.

The following earlier and less expensive Macs run Big Sur:

MacBook Air (13-inch, Mid 2013)

MacBook Air (11-inch, Mid 2013)

Better support on older and less expensive Macs !

I hope that in the not too distant future that the above iMac will run Big Sur.

If that is not possible, I hope that security updates will be provided for Catalina, for as long as they are provided for Big Sur.

Raphael.

macOS Big Sur will never become available to hardware it already does not already run on. 2013 iMacs do not have the proper technologies to run Big Sur. Big Sur introduced new software technologies and advancements that 2013 iMacs, that are 8 years old, and vintage, cannot do. Unfortunately, if you need Big Sur, you must get a new iMac.

Cheers,

I've always accepted that Apple tends not to support their hardware any longer than around 7 years. They believe after that time your better off upgrading to new hardware and I have to agree that in the technology world 7 years is a long time. If you stick with older hardware you are probably better off sticking with an older OS version as well. If Apple does not support the hardware the new OS probably isn't optimized for it either.
