I cannot restore my iPad

I cannot restore my ipad after numerous attempts. My MACbook Air is mid 2013 and is running OS X Yosemite V 10.10.5 Both my computer and Itunes both indicate that there are no software updates. HELP!!

The ipad is maybe 3-4 yrs old

BTW the error code i keep getting after attempting a restore on the ipad is 4013
