Imac sim card reader not working. How to repair?

What needs to be done to get the Sim card reader to work

iMac, macOS 10.13

iMacs do not have a SIM card reader. I believe you are referring to the SD card reader. Please read this article and see if it solves your issue: About the SD and SDXC card slot on your Mac - Apple Support.
