The suggestion by the Community Specialist is useless. It doesn't address this very specific problem we all have.

Yesterday, I called AppleCare. Spoke to Luis (online chat). He sent me instructions to:

  1. Refresh the NVRAM
  2. Start in Safe Mode
  3. Delete those cache files and cookie files (which I think are mentioned in this article and are definitely in other articles which I found online).
  4. I also removed the gmail account, re-loaded it. And, I toggled calendars on/off several times.

Guess What? (Play TPIR losing horn here)

I'm not sure if this problem is with Apple or Google or both. But, obviously they (i.e. their systems) don't want to play nice with each other.

I hope that Apple and Google both jump on his quickly. I'm going to redo my calendars using my iCloud account (which is, I'm sure, exactly what Apple wants me to do)...but I have no choice. Price for being a fan-boy I guess

Sorry if this offends, I just think it is best to tell it like it is.

Adding to the chorus that for the last week at least at 3:30-4:00 pm Pacific Time that Calendar reports no access to the server error to two Google accounts and on two machines. In the morning, all is fine. Have done all the accounts remove/readd, clear cache etc. Works fine on iOS same accounts

This is with an M1 MBP Big Sur and an Intel MBAir Big Sur.

Not trying any more suggestions...

Having thought that IOS was impacted by this - I noticed last night (prior to 9pm NZST) that there was a little exclamation mark next to the word "Calendars" at the bottom of the normal view in the apple Calendar App on IOS. Sure enough, when I clicked on it it took me to my list of calendars and the google ones had a message about the server. (currently ok so can't confirm exact message)

All came right at 9pm - same as MacOS

So basically throughout the day I am adding events to MacOS and IOS and they are all syncing up at 9pm, no action required.

I too found David Drahos' 11-step proposed solution to work. Thank you! (RE: Apple calendar suddenly not syncing with Google Calendar issue.) I had tried every other suggested solution. None worked for more than about 8 hours. David's seems to have REALLY fixed this issue. As a side-note, it seems to most people who have commented -- including me -- that this issue was created by a recent Big Sur update. Apples's posture on this issue is that it's not their problem, and we should contact Google. If it's really true that a Big Sur update caused the problem, it's more than offensive that Apple would feel no responsibility to fix the issue. Three of their support people gave me this answer, in so many words. Yet, NONE of the 3 were familiar with what is clearly a wide-spread problem. Thanks again to David for a solution that appears to be the fix.

Still working - this is past time there would be an error... however I did change one thing - I looked at my Google Account and Apps/Machines that have access. There were some older machines still showing so made sure to 'log them out'. Haven't done anything else. That might be something worth checking & trying if you are having the error right now...

I'm no longer -- or not yet -- having the issue, thanks to the 11-point solution posted by David Drahos. I appreciate your suggestion, but the solution is Apple's software changes that impacted the ability of mac's calendar to sync with the Google server. This, despite Apples insistence that it's an issue that Google has to fix. Not so, obviously, since David Drahos' solution corrected the problem.

Ugh...After touting the 11-step solution that David Drahos had suggested, my connection between Google and Calendar on my mac is failing again after roughly 11 hours of success. David's solution pretty much ditched everything having to do with Apple Calendar, including the Calendar itself, and begins with a clean slate. I don't see how this is fixable, without Apple's intervention, which is not happening.

I see only 2 options, for me anyway. 1) Use Google Calendar independently and forget about using Apple Calendar, or 2) Stop using Google Calendar entirely, and use Apple Calendar exclusively, with the help of iCloud to keep all devices synced and as backup protection.

I'd love to be wrong, and would welcome input. Thanks in advance.

I enabled logs and still could not find anything - then the problem went away (as of 11:00 pm PST) . I'm sure it will come back later / the next day. It's almost like someone is playing with an on/off switch somewhere...

Suggestion to others who are facing this issue - don't do anything - quit the calendar - and check later. Not worth removing and adding accounts. This is just a time based issue. Someone (Google Calendar API or Apple iCal ) needs to fix this.

This exactly. It is not our machines or really even a bug. There is some change/switch/cache - something that occurs at about 3:30 to 4:00 pm PST (same time worldwide) that just does not match to what was working. It could be an expired token that kicks in at that time or something... but then 8 hours (a standard workshift) it changes once again and everything is working. My money is that its at the Google server point. Is there a Google support ticket open? I wouldn't even say its 'Apple Calendar' just your calendar app. Doing any of the steps, cache dumping, add/remove - none of that actually works - you're just hitting the time window and getting a refresh when its working. It comes back.

Hello.

I spent 3 hours with mac support this week about this issue. I was finally transferred to a top tier specialist. Funny enough, two of the top tier specialists had the exact same problem. We tried everything, and then after many hours, the top tier specialist contacted the top tier tech department. This has something to do with google servers not communicating with apple. So nothing will work from our (consumer) end. This issue is all on them.

Yes, agreed!

I am running Catalina 10.15.7 on my beloved early 2015 MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch), and I am having this issue, too.

It feels relatively new - I've had my gmail calendars connected to the Calendar app for over a year. I once got it to go away by deleting the whole Gmail account & restring it, but the problem came back.

Yes! Flawless for me for 24 hours now. Almost 48, actually. This was a big problem for those of us, worldwide, who use Google Calendar with Apple Calendar. I'm grateful that the problem appears to have been fixed. It may have been the 11-step solution, first proposed by David Drahos, or it may have been Apple or Google fixing this. In any case, I will not soon forget Apple's reply to those of us who spent hours begging for their help, which was essentially to say 'not our problem; talk to Google' . (Their words were a bit more subtle than mine, but not much.) Has anyone in this discussion group every successfully reached Google for help?

I expect more from Apple in return for my loyalty to their products.
