Q EtreCheck report says hard drive is too slow

This computer is our work computer/POS system. Lately start up is getting noticeably slower. We try to shut it down weekly and do a good job of that. But this morning it took an hour to start up and load Chrome & Mail. The performance is below average on my report - is there a way to bring performance up? I rely on this computer to run my business. Are things only going to get worse from here on? Is it time for a new computer?

Hi frenchiefries,

Your hard drive might be starting to fail. Make sure all important data is backed up.

However, try these:

PRAM Reset: Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac - Apple Support

SMC Reset: How to reset the SMC of your Mac - Apple Support

First Aid: Repair a storage device in Disk Utility on Mac - Apple Support.

Safe Mode: Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support (For troubleshooting only)

Cheers,

Jack
