Apple Watch activity not working properly

Hi there,

I have an Apple Watch series 3. For the last few weeks when I use any of the activity (outdoor walk, indoor cycle etc) the time starts but none of the stats starts like heart beat, they just stay at 0 for around 20 minutes, then will kick in and start working.

Yesterday did a long walk, the time started but the km and heart beat calories etc only registered from around 20 mins in to the walk. Which is annoying! Anyone got any suggestions? It’s being doing this for over 3 weeks, before the latest updates?

many thanks

Hello,

There are couple of reasons why activity data's might not display proper data's which related to distance, chalories or heart rate, respectfully;

  1. GPS
  2. Weather condition (too cold)
  3. Too loose wrist band
  4. Inaccurate personal health data

Hello MrsDoris73,

Im sorry to know that suggested articles didn't help much.

I wonder if your iOS device and WatchOS is up to date? If not go for an update but make sure to have backup of your iPhone device.

  1. For watch 2 series and above to calibrate workout activity Open the Workout app. To start, tap Outdoor Walk or Outdoor Run. To set a goal before starting, tap .
  2. Walk or run at your normal pace for about 20 minutes.

If issue still persists try Resetting your calibration data

Here's how to reset your calibration data:

  1. On your iPhone, open the Apple Watch app.
  2. Tap the My Watch tab, then tap Privacy > Reset Fitness Calibration Data.

These steps are recommended by Apple. If you need more help you can schedule a call from Apple Support advisors via Apple Support app and let them call you and run some diagnostics or if you allow them they can check your watch logs (software based) and report to Apple engineers whether there are other possible workaround to solve the issue or to find potential cause.
