Hey there dakai272,

Congrats on getting your new iPhone! We'd like to help get it set up with iCloud so you can start using it.

First, let's start ruling out some basics:

  1. Have you tried connecting to a Wi-Fi network to test for the same issue, or are you currently only using cellular?
  2. If you're already using Wi-Fi, we recommend connecting to another Wi-Fi network to test for the same issue.
  3. While you're unable to check for an update currently as it's still in the initial set up, we may need to skip signing into iCloud to update it. Please keep in mind that your iPhone would only come with the version that was installed on it the moment it was packaged. Just in case you need to set it up and skip the iCloud step, here's a link that'll show how to update your iPhone: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch As it's a new phone, you can skip the back up step.
