iphone 12 max pro issue sound

Hey hey. I just bought a new iPhone 12 max pro. I’ve had a couple of situation where Ive recorded a video and the sound that I play back is layered with static interference. This playback is both on my phone and Bluetooth device. I’ve opened and closed the camera app several times and recorded new video but same problem. I turned off Bluetooth and put phone on airplane mode. Same issue. Checking if it was a microphone issue, I recorded an audio clip with voice memos and played it back. No sound problems at all. I opened up camera again and recorded a video. Played back and no issue. But then it happened again a little while later with a new video until I went into voice notes and repeated the process. This is odd right? Can anyone please help? I don’t want to risk recording video with static sound! Any always be checking thanks

Hi JulieJulie84,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities, and congratulations on your new iPhone! Let's look into this static sound issue in your recorded videos together and go over all options to prevent it from occurring.

To start, let's ensure we're on the same page. Have you had a chance to restart your iPhone since noticing this behavior? If not, please do so now. Here's a guide with the steps to restart:

Restart your iPhone

If the issue persists, let us know the version of iOS installed on your device. This can be found under Settings > General > About.

If an update is available, follow the steps in this guide to update:

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Also, do you have a case? If so, remove the case and see if the issue persists. When using the Camera to record videos it's using the rear microphone. Make sure all openings are clear and free of debris.

Go to Settings > Camera > Stereo Recording. If this is off, turn it on and test. If this is on, turn it off and test.

We're here for you if you've got any questions.

Have a great day!
