How to delete large files in terminal from MacOS recovery?

Every time I try to log into my Mac, Big Sur will automatically start downloading then fails - I am pretty sure this is due to available storage space.

Q. How can I locate and delete large files using the terminal via MacOS Recovery?

if I never turned on Full Disk Access for the terminal in System preferences prior, will this be a problem?

used https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT206996 but no success.

Any help will be much appreciated!:)

Maybe someone else with more experience in using Terminal will offer some good suggestions, but I would not mess with it. When working in Terminal, we need to know what we are doing. I am assuming that your computer is attempting to download an operating system update or upgrade and there is insufficient room. Here is what I suggest. This is a safe solution. Buy and install an external disk. These days they are inexpensive, available in all sizes, compact and easy to install with a USB cable which is normally provided. Most will not even require external power. You might have to reformat it, though. Then you can easily copy large files and folders over to the new disk. Then simply delete them from your hard drive to clear up the needed space. Safe and simple.
