Tried Everything. Can't remove "invisible" purgeable space that is maxing out my computer.

My computer has about 50% purgeable space. I've spent the last 2 days reading all the things I should do and did them: (emptied trash, removed all connections to my computer, repaired in Disc Utility, reinstalled OS, repaired disc utility in recovery mode, used different brands of cleaning software, and more etc, ).

I believe my problem is related to offline syncing programs (sync.com and backblaze) since it started when I tried to upload a large file to a vault. But I've already stopped that process and removed all files and software in offline storage connections (and my computer it is not connected to any phone). Any more ideas? I keep getting warning messages my computer is almost full.

I found the problem and want to document it here for someone in the future:

My sync.com storage (like dropbox) was holding a cache on my computer. Even though I erased everything in my account account (including the trash), it didn't make a difference - But the company showed me where the cache was stored in the network:

in the network and was I was able to empty it.

Your iTunes is a major part of the problem.

One thing you may want to do is get some external drives to use as archival backup for files you don't use frequently.

Be sure to have at least two separate copies of all essential data at all times.

If your problem is upgrading to Catalina or Big Sur, I would be sure to remove those sync programs. I think they are most likely the problem.

You are better off running http://www.bombich.com/ Carbon Copy Cloner.
