Switching SIM cards

Am I able to just switch SIM cards from an iPhone 6 to an iPhone 11, both with Verizon, and the iPhone 11 will bet ready to go with the information from the 6? Without having to go into the Verizon store?

Thank you! Do I need to shut the phone (11) off? Basically all I am trying to do is to set up my husband from his current iPhone6 to my iPhone11. I backed up both phones already. I received my new iPhone 12 and he is taking the 11. Any information/advice is appreciated. I don't want to lose any of his information.
