picture brighter on LG monitor attached to MacBook Pro 2017.
I am editing photos. Monitor is much too bright.
Is there a way to get them to look more similar?

You could consider a spectrometer-based hardware calibrator, e.g. X-Rite i1 or DataColor SpyderX.
Use the display controls to adjust it (buttons on the monitor itself).
You should be able to calibrate an external monitor. I have done so multiple times with my i1.
thanks so much for replying so quickly.
I did try adjusting monitor brightness.....but screens just look so different....it may be a quality issue.
the LG 850 gets good reviews and was within my budget, but I may need to get better monitor to
get both screens looking more alike. I don't know which one to trust! the darker or lighter version......
thanks for thinking about this with me.
I did calibrate my MacBook Pro with brand new color munki.
I don't see how to calibrate the monitor that way.....that is why I think I need to get better ie $$$ monitor.
It is frustrating when I try to print.....what looks right on monitor is way to light/bright.....so I end up just relying on screen of MacBook Pro.....which negates having the monitor in first place.
its probably fine for gaming or something.....
thanks for your time
