Does the stream in picture window from doorbell only work when the doorbell is pressed?

Does the stream in picture window from doorbell only work when the doorbell is pressed?

If so then the only thing a person has to do to end run security is just not press the button. That seems silly. It would be better to trigger the apple tv picture window based on settings including when motion is detected.

This has happened several times, someone walks up drops a delivery knocks on the door and leaves before anyone is even aware it occurred. Wouldn't take a sharp criminal mind to work this out.
