When connecting your iPhone to your PC, be aware that you need to approve the connection from your iPhone. You must press approve and enter your code.

Do you have iTunes installed? If not, then I would recommend installing it. Some drivers are included that the iPhone will need to communicate with the PC. iTunes can be downloaded for free from the Microsoft Store

When there is a connection, you can find your phone under This PC, where you can also find the DCIM folder, and in this way drag the pictures from the phone into the PC.
