Nothing to correct. If they come in as iMessages that means the person sending them sent them as iMessages. You cannot force them to send them as an SMS if they don't want to.
Also no reason to not want to not get iMessages.
Why would you not want that?
If you have iMessage turned off, then nobody is sending an iMessage. If it can't be received as an iMessage then its not sent as an iMessage, its just sent as an SMS.
They may of course be fine with it, or be completely unaware it is happening.
As to iMessage options, its free, it does not use your SMS allotment if you have any. So again I ask what possible reason could there be to not want to use iMessage?
I should have worded that better. I did know that it is not sent as an iMessage. What I meant was that those people who have iMessage turned on can send me a message with no issues.
I don't have any SMS/MMS limits. I don't have any reason to not use iMessage; I also don't have any reason to use iMessage. But that would change if you (or anyone) wanted to send me some Apple Cash!
ok thank you. I got a new phone and noticed the difference. I just thought it was something wrong. thank you for clarifying.
If you don't want to receive any texts as iMessages, turn it off in Settings > Messages > iMessage.
I have iMessage turned off as there is nothing in Messages I want. Anyone can send me an iMessage but it arrives as SMS/MMS text message. I'm happy and they are happy!
