No Permission to save an excel file

I have Big Sur v11.2.1 and Excel v16.45. When I attempt to save an Excel document I get an error message saying I don't have permission. How do I correct this?

Hi there DAYALA,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you are not able to save an Excel file because you are getting a permissions error. You may have had this error if you do not have your file saved with the correct permission settings. You can see how to make sure this folder has the proper permissions here: Change permissions for files, folders, or disks on Mac.

We hope this helps!

Hi again DAYALA,

Thanks for that additional information. Does this issue occur when trying to save a specific Excel spreadsheet, or is it happening no matter which one you try to save? If this issue is happening only with a specific file, you may need to change the permission for the file itself and not for the Excel app. If it was shared to you through iCloud, the sender may need to change your permissions for the Excel file.

We hope this helps!
