Apple 4K TV and Vizio Audio Issues

I’ve had my new Apple 4K for about a month and I’ve run into issues regarding delayed sound. The sound will play normal for about an hour before I have to restart it again to get the audio and picture to match. The delayed sound happens on any app, live or streamed.

My Vizio model is D40f-G9.

Audio Delay Issue with Dolby Atmos on Apple TV Hi everyone, I'm reaching out to see if anyone else has encountered a similar issue or if there are any known solutions that I might not be aware of. My setup includes a 77-inch Samsung S95C TV connected to a Sonos ARC soundbar via HDMI 2.1 (eARC). Alongside the ARC, I have a Sonos sub and two Sonos Era 300 speakers set up for surround sound. The issue I'm facing is an audio delay of about 2-3 seconds whenever I start playing any content (e.g., Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc.) from my Apple TV. It's worth noting that the audio, once it starts, is perfectly synced with the video, but there’s always this initial 2-3 second delay where the video starts first, followed by the audio. Interestingly, this delay only occurs when Dolby Atmos is enabled in the settings. Switching back to Dolby 5.1 eliminates the delay issue, though at the cost of audio quality. I'm trying to figure out if this is a resolvable issue on my end or if it's a known bug with Apple TV that requires a fix from Apple. Has anyone experienced anything similar, or does anyone have any advice on how to address this?

Apple TV 4K occasional failure or delay in starting soundbar's sound at start of program When I start a new show, my Polk Magnifi soundbar sometimes does not produce any sound for anything up to a few seconds to a few minutes. (I would guess it would never start in the "few minutes" case, but that's as long as I've waited.) In the cases where it does start the sound, the orange light at the front of the soundbar turns green. (Manual says that means "Dolby Content", but I'm guessing it means in this case that syncing has completed.) All components and cables are new. The HDMI cables are suitable for 4K. The Apple TV was bought last. Prior to that, the TV and soundbar were connected and they worked fine. TV is a Samsung QLED model. The Apple TV has a hardwired ethernet connection to the router. The connection to the soundbar is to HDMI 1. (Belkin Ultra 4K cable, Apple's recommended one.) The connection leaves from soundbar's TV(ARC) HDMI port, via the cable supplied with the soundbar. It connects to the TV's eARC port. This happens maybe once per five starts. When I give up, leaving and restarting the program will usually – but not always – result in the sound starting within a second. There is very frequently 1-3 short dropouts at the start of a program, whether or not the sound started immediately. I've seen that issue in posts dating back years, but I haven't found a post about this long delay.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. It sounds like when you are watching your Apple TV 4K your audio and video are getting out of sync after about one hour. Are you using any external audio source, like speakers, HomePod, or headphones? If so, you may need to set up Wireless Audio Sync. Learn how here: Set up Wireless Audio Sync with Apple TV.
