If the computer is compatible with Big Sur and there is at least 35,5 GB of Empty Space Available - open the Apple Store and search for Big Sur. Click Download . The Full Installer 12.24 GB will take time to arrive and will require a good, stable and reliable Internet Connection. Try not to use the computer and do not allow it to Sleep of Screen Activate to engage. Once it downloads, it will Launch. Quit it and do not allow it to start.

Now do a Time Machine Backup and if possible also two Tested Bootable Clones each to separate external Drives. If there are AntiVirus, Disk Cleaner, Optimizers etc installed. Remove as per Developers instructions - they are not needed at all and interfere with the normal operation of the OS. Also, be aware, Big Sur does not support any and all 32 Bit Applications / Extensions. One should verify if the Apps installed now have compatible Big Sur 64 Bit updates / upgrades.

Once all that is done, make a copy of the New Application called Install Big Sur, located in Applications Folder - to an external drive for future usage.

Now and only now - restart computer in Safe Mode ( SHIFT - key immediately at startup. It loads slowly - Normal and once logged in - Run the Install Bug Sur.
