Hello,
I am unable to send or receive SMS text messages on my new Macbook Air with the M1 chip. I have the 27" iMac, with an Intel processor, and I can send/receive SMS text messages on there. I then compared the settings on each device. iMessage settings are the same on both devices. Why can't I receive SMS text messages on my new Macbook Air with the Apple M1 chip?

Do you currently have another iOS device set up with iMessages? If so, be sure to set up Text Message Forwarding. Be sure to use How to forward SMS/MMS text messages from your iPhone to your iPad, iPod touch or Mac.

Thank you, however, this did not help and I already reviewed the doc before my post.
With my new MacBook Air w/M1 chip I can only text message other users with an i-Device. SMS is not functioning. Any other suggestions?
Can anyone else SMS non i-Device users, friends, or family?

That was it. I enabled text message forwarding, from my iphone, to my new MacBook Air with the M1 chip and instantly it worked! Thanks so much!
