My Mac is so old it won't find the new Mac. What do I do. The new Mac sees the old one, but the old is is constantly "looking for other computers..."

It would help to know the exact models (https://everymac.com/) and operating system versions involved.
The older Mac is a MacBook Air from 2015: OS X EI Capitan Version 10.11.16. The new Mac is the newest MacBook Air. macOS Big Sur. Version 11.0.1.
