How to import Microsoft excel spreadsheet into Numbers spreadsheet
MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.2
In Numbers:
Chose File > Open
Select the Excel file.
Click Open.
The file will be opened and translated into Numbers internal format. Features not supported in Numbers will be lost in the translation. The original Excel file will not be changed
(unless you later Export the file from Numbers to an MS Excel file with the same name and location as the file that you opened.)

You are welcome. Thanks for the green checkmark.
Do be aware that the translations are accurate for simple spreadsheet documents, but not for those using features supported by only one of the applications. If you are sharing documents with Excel users and 'exact' duplicates are needed, you should probably be using MS Excel at both ends. Excel for Mac works well, according to reports from those who use it.
If you're put off by the expense of going that route, you might check out LibreOffice, a free open source application written to mre closely meet the Excel feature set. The link goes to the LibreOffice home page, where you'll find a link to the download site.

Barry
