Does charging my Apple Pencil on my iPad drain the iPad battery?
Charging my Apple Pencil on my iPad means my iPad is running on battery. When I do this my iPad seems to be drained of power and won't turn on.
iPad Air 3, iPadOS 14

Yes. Charging the pencil with the IPad on battery drains the iPad's battery since its specifically using the iPad's battery power to charge the pencil.
If you are going to leave the Pencil connected to the iPad for a long time, plug the iPad into power.

Thanks. I cannot do both, though, because my iPad Air (3) only has the one port. It does not have the magnetic connection on the side (top) for charging the pencil. I will use the separate charger for this in the future.
