I cant connect to an external display
I cant connect to an external 4k display with my macbook pro 16 inch. Nothing wrong with the display as it works with other laptops.
Connection via HDMi to apple thunderbolt adapter.

If this is your adapter, check to be sure you have the model that could do 4K:

The cables you want for HDMI-only Monitors (higher resolutions than 720p TV sets) are marked as Certified with an anti-counterfeiting tag and are labeled:
"Premium High Speed HDMI cable" or that + "with Ethernet" --OR--
"Ultra High Speed HDMI cable" or that + "48G"

EXACTLY what adapters and cable and docks are you using to attempt this connection?
No docks just the apple thunderbolt adapter plugged into the MacBook Pro. It’s the standard white apple thunderbolt adapter with a hdmi port, usb and lightning port. With a hdmi cable running from the display to the adapter.
