iPhone 8 Plus won't connect to 5GHz WiFi

My WiFi router is connected to an access point, which can be connected to through either a 2.4GHz connection or a 5GHz connection. Each network has a different SSID, so I know which one is which. I got my iPhone 8 Plus today from an Amazon Renewed seller, and so far everything has been perfect, except the phone can only connect to the 2.4GHz network. It can find both, but when I try and connect to the 5GHz network it loads for a while before displaying "No Internet Connection". However, connecting to the 2.4GHz network works with no problems, leading me to believe it's a problem with the phone. I am running the latest version of iOS 14.4. Can anyone help?

Hi there anuka175,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you want to connect to your 5GHz Wi-Fi network, but your iPhone will only successfully connect to your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. Are you able to connect to another 5GHz Wi-Fi connection, like a friend’s? If you are also not able to connect to another network, it is likely the iPhone. If this issue only happens on your home network, it may be an issue with your home network.

If the issue is with your home network, check your router settings are correct: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points.

If the issue appears to be with the iPhone, try these steps: If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won’t connect to a Wi-Fi network.

We hope this helps!
