copy itunes library to external drive

Hello! I want to make a backup copy my iTunes library from my MacBook Pro complete with cover art onto an external drive. I'm on High Sierra. Is it as simple as going to my username/music/iTunes and dragging and dropping the folder? Thanks in advance!

Moving iTunes library to external drive I began to move my library to an external drive. I believe I copied over all the files but the library that opens is the library from 2015. The music folder is very messy with individual music files among a iTunes and iTunes1 folder. I used the itl file from that one but it seems to be from an earlier file. Do I need to take the unit into an Apple store for in person help?

Can't open iTunes Library.itl in Music on new Mac. New Mac running Monterey. Old Mac running High Sierra. I've copied the full library from the old Mac to an external disc and I'm trying to point the new Mac towards the iTunes Library.itl file to import the library. All that happens however is a spinning circle and "Loading", going nowhere. I've looked at the structure of the folder and it seems normal - I've never had it split between locations. (I've also tried deleting the existing Music folder and replacing it with the old one - Music opens up and asks me to choose a library, but this doesn't even result in the loading circle, it just doesn't work at all.) Can anyone offer a solution? Thanks

Mac OS Ventura 13.1 - location of downloaded podcast Need to know where Ventura is storing podcast mp3 files. Have headphones I swim with that require me to copy .mp3 to headphone and since iTunes has gone away Apple has made it more difficult to accomplish this by hiding the location of where mp3 files, specifically podcasts, are stored.

Yes. You might want to look at a folder syncing tool such as Synkron so you could update the backup in future by only copying the new or updated files.
