Hotspot

When I turn on my hotspot and connect with my laptop it is working fine, but I can’t use internet on my phone while hotspot is on. It’s like I don’t have data turned on, notifications don’t come, can’t search anything on the web, can’t send messages via messenger. But it still works on laptop that is connected to my hotspot. What is wrong?
