Since the option to record the screen is disabled, check to see if you have Screen Recording disabled by following the steps in this article to Use parental controls on your child's iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch and be sure Restrictions have not been activated:


"Set Content & Privacy Restrictions

  1. Go to Settings and tap Screen Time.
  2. Tap Continue, then choose "This is My [Device]" or "This is My Child's [Device]."
    • If you're the parent or guardian of your device and want to prevent another family member from changing your settings, tap Use Screen Time Passcode to create a passcode, then re-enter the passcode to confirm. In iOS 13.4 and later, after you confirm your passcode you'll be asked to enter your Apple ID and password. This can be used to reset your Screen Time passcode if you forget it. 
    • If you're setting up Screen Time on your child's device, follow the prompts until you get to Parent Passcode and enter a passcode. Re-enter the passcode to confirm. In iOS 13.4 and later, after you confirm your passcode you'll be asked to enter your Apple ID and password. This can be used to reset your Screen Time passcode if you forget it. 

3. Tap Content & Privacy Restrictions. If asked, enter your passcode, then turn on Content & Privacy.


Make sure to choose a passcode that's different from the passcode you use to unlock your device. To change or turn off the passcode on your child's device, tap Settings > Screen Time > [your child's name]. Then tap Change Screen Time Passcode or Turn Off Screen Time Passcode, and authenticate the change with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode."

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you have an issue recording the audio when screen recording on your iPad. What app are you trying to screen record and stream the audio from? Per the article you came to the Communities from to Record the screen on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch:


"Some apps might not allow you to record audio. You can't record your screen and use screen mirroring at the same time."


This would include video conferencing and music and video streaming apps, for example.

It’s not about any app. The feature in the iPad that allows screen recoding is disabled after updating the OS. Apple are not addressing this issue and it’s very irritating. I see lots of gossip about it all just shuffling around the fact that apple caused this and won’t fix it.

My issue here is that with all the settings confirming audio and screen recording enabled there is no audio being recorded.

Its not working! I have to download a third part app to get this service. Your reply about child devices settings was out of sequence to my question
