Cannot decode raw data “download problem”

I never had this problem before downloading zip files from yahoo, until today .. as soon as I click the link to download the file it always have a full download bar and the “mb of ?”. Then after a few minutes it says download failed - cannot decode raw data ? I’ve updated and restarted my Mac, checked network, & retried multiple times. I also switched the destination, and allowed unrecognized sites for downloading. I’m at a dead end online seems like no one else received that error code except for webpages ? I’m lost?

Hi Dglover9,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities! We'd love to help with this message you're seeing when attempting to download a file online. Let's get this sorted out together.

To start, is this happening when attempting to download from multiple different files, and from different websites? Will it be possible to test using another web browser application, to see if the issue is isolated to the specific file or website?

If it's only happening in Safari, we recommend completing the steps in this guide:

If Safari doesn't open a webpage or isn’t working as expected

If the issue is only occurring on one website, it may help to remove the website and cookie data before testing again.

We're here for you if you've got any questions.

Have a great day!
