Auto Enhance on iPhone 12 Pro Camera

Every time I take a photo and go to look at it immediately after I look at it, I see that it auto enhances and I do not want it to do that. I’ve checked all settings and nothing has changed. I’ve even spoke to an Apple advisor on the phone and got no real answer as to why this happens. It’s a bit annoying and I hate how it makes photos look. 😭

Do you have iCould photos and Optimize storage on by any chance?

Set up and use iCloud Photos - Apple Support

If the image is uploaded to iCloud and only a scaled-down version of it is saved on your phone it will look like it "enhances" when the full quality picture is downloaded from the cloud when you open it.

Might not be this but wanted to at least make you aware of the possibility

Hello TakePrideNUrHide,

It sounds like you're seeing changes to your photos when viewing them in the Photos app, is that right? We want to help.

Which iOS version is your device running? Find the software version on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod

Are you seeing these changes in the "Effect Suggestions" part of the For You tab in Photos? Photos for iOS and iPadOS - Apple

If you go to Settings > Camera, is "Preserve Settings" enabled? Take and edit photos with your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Thanks!

Yes that is correct. When I take a photo everything looks fine in the frame when I am originally taking it. But as soon as I go to my Photos app and look at the image, I see some sort of auto enhance being done on it within 2 seconds I would say. I am currently running IOS 14.4, and when this happens I am not even using the effects portion of the Photos app. I thought it was really weird when it was happening. Sometimes the auto enhance was drastic and other times I would barely notice it. I ended up in going to my local Apple Store near me and they said everything passed with the diagnostics. So I am assuming it has something to do with the camera software on the iPhone 12 Pro. Still I think it was a little strange as my iPhone 11 Pro that I used to have had all the same specs pretty much as this new phone and I never had an issue with that one. In the end I ended up in exchanging my iPhone 12 Pro for the iPhone 12 Pro Max so I could upgrade to having a bigger battery capacity and the better camera as well.
