hi i lost my data when i transfer to icloud drive, can I get it back?

I try to change my laptop from macbook air to macbook pro. but then since i use macbook air i never stored any data to icloud drive. so i have limited storage capacity icloud drive to 5gb, but then i drag my offline data 40gb+ to icloud drive in macbook air. while pararel i do upgrade the icloud data 50gb.

but while in the process i sign out my apple id from macbook air and sign in again in the new macbook pro.

then i lost all the 40gb+ data.

anyone know how to restore this? thanks!

by the way my time machine is not active.

Hey there!

Do you still have access to the old Mac?

If the data was at some point uploaded to iCloud, I’d look for recoverable files at iCloud.com > Account Settings, scroll to the bottom under Advanced and click on Restore Files, see if they are there to restore.

Sometimes, also, when signing out of iCloud in System Preferences, the iCloud Drive data is stored locally, if you tell it to.

If so, I’d check, (On both Macs if possible):

Finder > Go (On the top menu) > Home.

See if there is a folder called “iCloud Drive Archive” if so, this is where your data would’ve been saved to.

Recover deleted files at iCloud.com:

https://support.apple.com/guide/icloud/recover-deleted-files-mmae56ea1ca5/icloud

Make a backup of your iCloud data:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204055

There, you’ll see where iCloud Drive data is stored locally when saving it.

Hope one of those helps!
