Logic unable to save template to different folder?

Good morning!

Should logic pro x be able to save a template file to a location different from the default folder?

I am fairly new to Logic, couldn't find an answer through google.

Thanks for your replies.

You can always copy the template from the original location to any location you like. It's just a file on your hard drive. But to keep the functinality to use the Logic command New, it's necessary to keep the original position.

Beware of working with a Logic document in the cloud directly (by opening and saving a logic document). Use the cloud only as a storage and transfer location. And more, if you are using anything else than iCloud, compress (zip) your files.

one last: why the emphasis on compressing the files in the cloud?
is this more than a matter of available space?

Nope, more serious. I want to protect you from data loss. You may find damaged logic projects, which can't be repaired. You can read many posts on this topic here in this forum.

Here is a official apple support document:

Overview of sharing in Logic Pro

"(...) By default, Logic Pro saves projects as a special kind of file called a package,

which non-Apple formatted hard drives and Internet services do not

support. To insure that your project opens properly on another computer,

you need to compress the Logic Pro project package before copying or

uploading. (...)"
